For the second time Pink Apple will award the Pink Apple Festival Award for merits in gay and lesbian filmmaking. This year the Canadian-Swiss Léa Pool will receive the prize. Since the Eighties, images of women and love between women have been the central topics of the Geneva born filmmaker, who made a name internationally with insightful films such as «Anne Trister» or «Lost and Delirious». With «Emporte-moi» she won numerous awards, among others the Swiss Film Prize, and for «Maman est chez le coiffeur» the Audience Award at the Solothurn Film Days. The Filmpodium Cinema honours the director with a retrospective from 1 April to 15 May, comprising 15 films, one of which is her latest film «La passion d’Augustine», and her documentary «Pink Ribbons, Inc.». In the early twentieth century, after the death of her mother, the young Manuela is admitted to a boarding school for girls where the headmistress imposes a rigid discipline. Manuela (Romy Schneider) projects all her affection onto Miss Elisabeth von Bernburg (Lilli Palmer), the only supervisor to show her any kindness. At a party where alcohol flows a little freely, Manuela creates a scandal by loudly proclaiming her love for Miss von Bernburg. The film is based on a play from Christa Winsloe – a remake of the film from 1931.
