Nearly 50 years have passed since the introduction of women’s suffrage in Switzerland, and 25 years since the women’s strike, Switzerland largest demonstration ever. We would like to know the following: What motivated these women? Which wrongs were they fighting? Why has the journal «Lesbenfront» disappeared? What about the women’s conferences in the Paulus-Akademie and Boldern? What are current queerfemtransinterlesb* activities? What are the issues of the «Grossmütter-Revolution» (grandmother’s revolution)? Why do we still need exclusive women’s spaces such as the Frauen*Zentrum? How has the University of Zurich’s journal «Rosa-Rot» featuring feminist and gender issues survived for over 25 years? And: what do we still need to change?

Swiss Premiere Documentary
«She's Beautiful When She's Angry» resurrects the buried history of the outrageous, often brilliant women who founded the modern women's movement from 1966 to 1971. The film takes us from the founding of NOW, with ladies in hats and gloves, to the emergence of more radical factions of women's liberation; from intellectuals like Kate Millett to the street theatrics of W.I.T.C.H. (Women's International Conspiracy from Hell!). Artfully combining dramatizations, performance and archival imagery, the film recounts the stories of women who fought for their own equality, and in the process created a world-wide revolution.
